Overview
In this Band 6/7 progression role, you will deliver expert pharmacotherapy for adults with mental and physical health conditions across Nottingham sites. You’ll work with MDTs to optimise medicines, gain prescribing competencies, and develop toward Band 7 duties with structured support. The role combines clinical pharmacy with some dispensary activity and on‑call duties, offering mentorship and clear progression. You’ll contribute to medicines optimisation and clinical audits while growing leadership skills in a busy mental health service.

Responsibilities
- Provide expert pharmaceutical care and safe, effective medication use for patients with mental and physical health conditions
- Conduct medication reviews and offer therapeutic advice to support treatment optimisation
- Participate in MDT meetings and ward rounds; contribute patient-specific care plans
- Deliver training, mentorship, and assessments for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and staff
- Provide specialist medicines information and counselling to patients, carers, and staff
- Clinically validate prescriptions and oversee dispensing; ensure regulatory compliance
- Collaborate on clinical audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives
- Help implement treatment guidelines and Trust-wide medicines optimisation strategies
- Provide on-call and out-of-hours pharmacy coverage and leadership support
- Act as role model; cover for senior pharmacy roles when needed
Key requirements
- MSc in Pharmacy
- GPhC registration (Member)
- Diploma/MSc in Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy or current study in this field
- Post-qualification hospital pharmacy experience
- Awareness of NHS changes and pharmacy issues within NHS
- Essential hospital pharmacy experience
