Overview

In this role you will join a market-leading Competition, Regulation & Trade team to handle complex competition disputes and private enforcement work for multinational clients. You will navigate High Court and Competition Appeal Tribunal proceedings, coordinating multi-jurisdictional disputes with senior oversight. You’ll provide strategic litigation advice, manage timelines and budgets, and mentor junior lawyers. This position offers exposure to cross-border matters within a globally integrated network and opportunities to shape high-stakes enforcement outcomes. You will contribute to business development and thought leadership while upholding the firm’s risk and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on private enforcement, follow-on damages, collective actions before the CAT
  • Defend damages actions before High Court and CAT
  • Coordinate responses to multi-jurisdictional disputes
  • Provide strategic litigation risk advice and interaction with regulatory investigations
  • Lead workstreams and supervise junior associates and trainees
  • Manage matter timelines, budgets and client expectations
  • Develop and maintain client relationships through commercial advice
  • Contribute to business development and thought leadership
  • Mentor internal teams and collaborate across the firm’s international network
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and risk management procedures

Key requirements

  • Approximately 6–8 years’ PQE (flexible for exceptional candidates)
  • Strong competition law experience focused on disputes and litigation
  • Experience before the High Court and/or CAT
  • Desirable: experience with collective actions and private enforcement
  • Excellent understanding of UK and EU competition law
  • Strong drafting, advocacy support, negotiation and project management
  • Ability to manage complex matters and multiple priorities
  • Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship management skills
  • Commercially minded, proactive, with ownership of significant responsibilities
