Overview

In this role you will support the Practice Manager to ensure smooth daily operations of a busy primary care setting. You will collaborate with GP partners and the broader team to deliver high-quality services to patients. The role spans HR, operations, compliance, IT and service development, offering variety and development opportunities. You will work both independently and as part of a team, applying practical, solutions-focused thinking to improve staff support and patient care. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position within a high-performing practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operation of the Practice with the Practice Manager
  • Coordinate HR processes: recruitment, inductions, appraisals, absence management and staff records
  • Assist with quality, compliance and contractual requirements (CQC, QoF, Enhanced Services, data quality, annual returns)
  • Coordinate staff training and compliance records
  • Support management of patient complaints and PPG activities
  • Coordinate estates, IT, and Smartcard administration with internal/external providers
  • Plan and deliver Practice initiatives (annual flu programme, TARGET activity)
  • Prepare and submit various claims and reimbursements (CQRS, GP Reimbursement, Minor Surgery, CQC, water, clinical waste)
  • Attend and represent the Practice at internal and external meetings
  • Ensure timely completion of operational, administrative and contractual requirements

Key requirements

  • Experience as a member of a management team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • GCSEs including English and Mathematics; A Levels
  • Experience using EMIS (desirable)
  • Experience coaching staff (desirable)
  • Management qualification (desirable)
