Overview

In this role you will serve as the key equity tax expert within the Tax team, shaping practical solutions for global equity arrangements across jurisdictions. You will collaborate with Payroll, Equity, and Finance to implement compliant, scalable processes and effective stakeholder communication. The role blends hands-on tax work with process improvement and cross-functional engagement to support equity activity from plan design to reporting. You’ll translate regulatory changes into actionable business steps while guiding internal teams and external advisers. Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal equity tax advisor within the Tax team, providing practical guidance on employment tax treatment of equity events across the lifecycle.
  • Contribute tax input to plan design, country rollout, cross-border scenarios, liquidity events, system changes, and business initiatives.
  • Evaluate equity activity tax treatment across jurisdictions, including sourcing, apportionment, withholding, payroll and reporting.
  • Determine when issues can be handled internally versus needing local specialist advice.
  • Monitor legislative and business changes in equity taxation and translate them into concrete actions for the business.
  • Collaborate with Equity and Payroll to ensure accurate withholding, payroll processing, and downstream reporting.
  • Maintain or support the global equity tax compliance calendar with returns, notices, and supporting evidence.
  • Identify and remediate historic or live issues such as late filings or data weaknesses.
  • Support tax authority enquiries, audits, and voluntary disclosures coordinating across teams and advisers.
  • Build and improve the global equity tax operating model, including ownership, controls, and documentation.

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience in global equity tax in advisory and/or in-house settings.
  • Strong knowledge of cross-border employment tax treatment of equity, including withholding and reporting.
  • Practical understanding of equity tax interactions with payroll and finance processes.
  • Experience managing or supporting equity tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to identify compliance gaps and remediate data or reporting issues.
  • Experience building processes, controls, and operating models in evolving environments.
  • Proficiency with data and financial systems, e.g., spreadsheets and equity administration platforms; Workday experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills with ability to explain complex tax concepts.
  • A qualified accountant or tax adviser, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Private-company equity experience and experience in financial services/payments are advantageous.
