Operations Systems Engineer

Overview

In this role you will configure and commission new Onshore Wind, Solar and Battery Energy Storage assets into SSE Renewables’ centralised control platforms, ensuring secure and resilient operations. You will collaborate with OT, IT and Telecoms to enhance performance, efficiency and value while driving improvements to established ways of working. The position supports SSE’s growth in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment and offers hybrid/flexible options. A meaningful impact comes from strengthening critical infrastructure in the energy transition.

Responsibilities

• Configure, test and commission new assets into centralised control systems
• Develop and deliver system enhancements with OT, IT and Telecoms to improve security and performance
• Create and implement processes that increase efficiency and align with evolving business needs
• Design, run and document testing for critical OT and IT systems for quality deployments
• Provide first-line support for operational systems and troubleshoot with specialist teams

Key requirements

• Degree in Engineering, IT or related discipline or equivalent industry experience
• Experience with SCADA or control room systems, ideally GE ADMS 6.0 configuration/diagram management
• Knowledge of Grid Codes and High Voltage safety rules; operational authorisations or switching experience is advantageous
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into practical, innovative solutions for performance and efficiency
• Strong analytical, technical and communication skills across multiple teams
