Overview

In this role you will help build and support Starling’s core financial systems, including bank ledgers and their integrations. You’ll work within the Finance Engineering team to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and processes run efficiently. You’ll engage with stakeholders to design resilient solutions in a cloud-native, distributed architecture. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position at a fast-paced, collaborative fintech where you help shape reliable money movement. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality financial software at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support key financial systems, including bank ledgers and integration points
  • Design scalable, maintainable software to solve complex financial problems
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across teams to align on requirements
  • Ensure code quality, resilience, and efficient processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Contribute to the full project lifecycle from discovery to delivery and knowledge sharing

Key requirements

  • Around 3-4 years of Java experience
  • Attention to detail and ability to write clear, maintainable code
  • Understanding of software project lifecycle and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in designing systems to solve problems
  • Postgres experience highly desirable; Netsuite experience a bonus
  • Proficiency in Java with some TypeScript; not required to be expert
  • Collaborative mindset
