Child Care Solicitor – Plymouth

Overview

In this role you will provide expert advice in public law children matters, manage your own caseload, and represent clients in court. You will join the Family Care team in Plymouth to support vulnerable families with clear, compassionate guidance. You will handle care proceedings, Special Guardianship, and PLO-related work, guiding clients from early concerns to court outcomes. Responsibilities

• Advise on care proceedings involving parents and children
• Handle Special Guardianship Orders within public law matters
• Lead pre-proceedings and PLO meetings
• Represent clients at all stages of court hearings
• Manage own caseload, provide clear and empathetic legal advice

Key requirements

• Experience in public law children proceedings
• Confidence managing cases independently and appearing in court
• Excellent communication skills (clear, grounded, empathetic)
• Team player with a genuine desire to help families
• Familiarity with Legal Aid and the Law Society Children’s Panel (or willingness to pursue)
