Overview

As Commercial Manager at Devonport Royal Dockyard, you influence billion-pound defence programmes and partner with senior stakeholders. You provide governance and commercial expertise across tenders, contracts, and risk management to support national security projects. Responsibilities

• Provide specialist commercial support to defence infrastructure projects
• Governance for tenders, contract reviews, and risk management
• Negotiate NEC4 terms and scope to secure optimal outcomes
• Oversee change orders for Qualifying Defence Contracts (QDCs) and gather AAR evidence
• Act as escalation point for high-risk commercial issues and advise on NEC4 terms and conditions
• Lead subcontract tender compilation, negotiation, and claim reviews

Key requirements

• Significant experience managing large, complex construction contracts and bids in a regulated environment
• Ability to develop strong customer relationships and negotiate independently
• In-depth knowledge of NEC4 ECC and PSC terms
• Leadership experience with capability to mentor a team
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
• Security clearance eligibility (SC)
