Overview

As Lead Design Engineer / Design Manager in our Water team, you will steer multidisciplinary delivery of water, wastewater and flood infrastructure projects from concept to handover. You’ll lead technical delivery, manage project packages, and collaborate with clients and partners to shape innovative, value-led solutions. The role sits within a growing UK Water practice that values inclusion, development of junior staff and cross-functional teamwork. You’ll contribute to high-profile schemes that protect health, the environment and communities, in a flexible hybrid setup.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of water, wastewater, and flood infrastructure projects
• Manage key work packages from concept to handover
• Collaborate with clients and AECOM partners to secure stakeholder buy-in
• Develop and mentor junior team members and support their project input

Key requirements

• Experience delivering water and wastewater projects with multi-disciplinary knowledge
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams
• Degree or equivalent in a related engineering subject (civil, electrical, mechanical)
• Chartered or Incorporated with ICE, CIWEM or working towards it
• Experience in feasibility studies, options appraisal and concept/outline design for water clients and DB contractors
