Apply for the Life Sciences & Chemistry Associate
Location: London
Job Description:

Kilburn & Strode is one of Europe’s pre-eminent intellectual property firms. We act for UK, US and European clients at the forefront of their sectors on their most challenging, business-critical IP matters – from EPO and Unified Patent Court proceedings to M&A due diligence, strategic portfolio management and high-value prosecution. We have offices in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and the US.

We are a certified B Corporation that looks forward, not back. We have a clear five-year strategy and an ambition to be the market leader in premium IP work by 2030. Our values,- (be curious, think commercially, act collaboratively, take ownership, make a positive impact),- are not a poster on a wall. They shape how we work and who we hire.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dual qualified patent attorney in the field of Life Sciences to join a team of over 40 trainee and qualified attorneys. Our team is led by dedicated, market-leading experts who can offer you unparalleled quality of work, the autonomy to manage your workload and client matters and the support to ensure you are developing in your career. We welcome applications to join us in our London office. Our ideal candidate will:

  • Ideally be a circa 2-4 years post qualified European and UK patent attorney.
  • Be technically astute, with the ability to quickly understand any biotechnology subject matter, in particular subject matter relating to immunology and cancer immunotherapy, RNA therapeutics and/or gene editing.
  • Ideally have experience of EPO opposition and appeal proceedings, as well as freedom to operate and/or due diligence projects.
  • Have an interest in and understanding of product development issues and lifecycle management in the therapeutics sector.
  • Be ambitious – looking to develop your career and grow your own practice. However, there would be a full workload to take on from the start.
  • Be client focussed and have superb relationship building ability.
  • Work autonomously and take responsibility for your own caseload.
  • Have an interest in or experience of business development activities.

The Offer

The opportunity to join a creative and supportive team with a clear path for career progression with an inhouse training programme. The role also provides the opportunity for agile working, flexibility and part-time working if required.

An opportunity to work for a firm that lives and breathes its values and strives to create a positive working environment and culture. We aren’t committed to diversity because it’s “good for business” or because it’s the “right thing to do.” We’re committed because it makes our firm a superb place to work. Whatever your background, you’re welcome here because we love the creativity that difference brings. All candidates will be treated on their merits regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, marital status, disability, or socio-economic background.
