Service Care Solutions are proud to be recruiting on behalf of Oldham Council for a Permanent Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join their dedicated Adults’ Services team. The Role
As an Approved Mental Health Professional, you will carry out statutory duties under the Mental Health Act, undertaking assessments and making informed decisions to ensure individuals receive the most appropriate care in the least restrictive way possible.
- Undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and exercising statutory AMHP responsibilities.
- Coordinating complex assessments with health professionals, police, ambulance services and partner agencies.
- Making evidence-based decisions regarding detention, guardianship and community alternatives.
- Promoting recovery-focused, person-centred practice while safeguarding vulnerable adults.
- Preparing clear, accurate reports and maintaining high-quality case records.
- Participating in the AMHP duty rota and contributing to service development.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current warranted Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status – essential.
- Social Work England registration.
- Experience working within Adult Mental Health Services.
- Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.
- Excellent assessment, communication and decision‑making skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a fast‑paced multidisciplinary environment.
