DBA Manager

Overview

In this role you lead the delivery and performance of critical Oracle database and middleware services that support defence and engineering operations. You will guide a specialist team, drive security, reliability and efficiency, and help transition to an in-house function while delivering new digital solutions. You work across technical teams to enable national defence and infrastructure initiatives, shaping technology and people capability. This is a leadership-focused position with impact on secure, high-availability platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery and performance of Oracle database and middleware services
• Manage system performance, security, and availability across critical platforms
• Collaborate with technical teams to implement new applications and improvements
• Develop project plans, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, optimisation, and best practices

Key requirements

• Strong experience with Oracle database and middleware in complex systems
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
• Expertise in Oracle technologies (WebLogic, SOA Suite, Identity Management, modern Oracle databases)
• Experience with Windows and Linux server environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for performance and reliability
• Relevant professional experience in database administration or IT infrastructure management
• ITILv4 qualification or higher – Desirable
• Security clearance eligibility to NNPI level
