Join a growing international marine engineering company delivering mechanical and electrical upgrades to cruise and commercial vessels across Europe and North America.

We’re looking for a talented CAD Designer to turn engineering concepts, client requirements, and site survey information into accurate, practical and installation-ready technical drawings.

Working alongside experienced Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers and designers, you’ll support projects from initial concept and tender design through to detailed engineering, installation and as-built documentation.

You don’t need previous mechanical or piping experience — what matters is your ability to produce high-quality CAD drawings, understand technical information and develop your skills within a specialist engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for mechanical and piping installations
  • Develop layouts, general arrangements, fabrication and installation drawings
  • Create equipment, skid and support details
  • Translate sketches, surveys and engineering information into clear CAD designs
  • Amend and update drawings in line with project and client requirements
  • Prepare drawings to support manufacture and installation
  • Assist with site surveys and updating existing drawings
  • Produce accurate as-built drawings following installation
  • Work closely with engineers and project teams to deliver designs on time
  • Contribute to CAD libraries and standardised design solutions

About You:

You’ll be a technically minded CAD designer with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret information and turn it into accurate drawings.

Essential:

  • Proven experience using CAD software
  • Strong 2D and/or 3D drawing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings and technical information
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist engineering environment

Desirable:

  • Experience with AutoCAD 3D, Navisworks, As-Built Suites or Scene
  • Experience with other 3D design and modelling software
  • Engineering, manufacturing or technical design experience
  • Experience carrying out site surveys

No marine, mechanical or piping experience? No problem. If you’re a strong CAD designer with the right attitude and attention to detail, we’ll help you develop the specialist knowledge to take your skills into the marine engineering sector
