Quality Engineer

Overview

In this role you will safeguard quality across large-scale Solar PV and BESS projects within the M Renewables Division. You will partner with project leadership, site teams and subcontractors to implement and maintain project quality standards, drive inspections, and ensure compliance with specs and contracts. You will influence build quality, documentation, and handover outcomes, contributing to safe, reliable renewable energy delivery. This role offers hands-on quality leadership across civil, mechanical, and electrical works and opportunities to improve project performance.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Project Quality Management Plan during construction
• Coordinate and perform quality inspections across civil, mechanical, and electrical works per ITPs
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals and method statements for compliance
• Ensure construction activities follow procedures, specs, and applicable standards
• Prepare, review and maintain quality documentation (inspection reports, test records, certificates, quality registers)
• Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive actions with timely closure
• Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, subcontractors and third-party bodies
• Verify incoming materials and equipment meet approved specs
• Monitor subcontractor quality performance and provide guidance on quality procedures
• Support FATs, SATs, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover activities
• Ensure as-built documentation and handover records are complete
• Participate in internal/external quality audits and drive continuous improvement
• Collaborate with HSE and Construction teams to promote quality, compliance and excellence

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years QA/QC experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or renewable energy projects
• Experience on EPC projects, especially Solar PV, BESS or power generation
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and inspection processes
• Experience creating and implementing ITPs, method statements and quality docs
• Understanding of ISO 9001 QA principles and quality audits
• Experience managing NCRs and corrective actions
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and material certifications
• Familiarity with commissioning processes and handover docs
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem-solving
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with electronic document management systems is a plus
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to project sites
