ShapeBlue is looking for a Junior QA Engineer to help test our infrastructure automation and datacenter optimization tools. We actively contribute to the Apache CloudStack Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) project. We work with our customers and consulting team to decide which features we contribute to the CloudStack community. We also support our customers’ production CloudStack environments.
At first, you will mostly run manual test scripts to check CloudStack features that are not automated yet. With support from senior engineers, you will learn to write automated tests and gradually take on more of this work. You may sometimes travel to conferences or customer sites, which can be international.
You will join ShapeBlue’s global, distributed Software Engineering team. You will also work with the wider Apache open-source community through mailing lists, Slack channels and occasional in-person meetups.
Our work covers hypervisors, storage and networking. You don’t need to be an expert in these yet. A basic understanding, and the drive to learn more, is what matters. We develop CloudStack in Java and Python and work with many other technologies to integrate it. We donate all of our work back to the open-source project.
Hands-on experience with AI-driven development is a must. We don’t just mean using an AI assistant to write code. You should have worked with AI-automated workflows, such as AI agents that generate, run or triage tests, or that do multi-step tasks with little human input. You should also know how to review and verify AI output, because checking what the AI produces is a key part of the role.
Our team values collaboration, customer focus, continuous improvement and the Apache Way. We will give you structured training and a mentor to help you grow. In return, we expect curiosity, a passion for learning new technologies and a collaborative attitude. Over time, we will encourage you to contribute to the Apache community, share your work and take part in hackathons and conferences.
