Senior Management Accountant

Overview

Senior Management Accountant (R2R) leads the Record to Report function in a fast-growing law firm. You will manage a team of nine, ensure accurate financial reporting and strong controls, and drive process improvement. The role sits within the finance group, partnering with business leads to deliver insights and robust month-end, quarterly, and year-end closes. You will shape reporting, support budgets, and oversee intercompany accounting in a multi-entity setup. A strategic, hands-on leader with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of management and assistant accountants
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes with deadlines met
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, journals and schedules
• Maintain general ledger integrity and intercompany accounting
• Deliver management accounts, variance analysis, KPIs, and commentary
• Partner with Finance Business Partners to support decision-making
• Support budgeting and forecasting with historic data and trends
• Own internal control framework and support external audits
• Identify automation and standardisation opportunities within R2R processes
• Support finance transformation activities and system upgrades (ERP, reconciliation tools)

Key requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience managing an R2R or Financial/Management Accounting function
• Proven leadership with multi-level team management
• Experience in a complex, multi-entity business
• Excellent technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
• Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/finance systems
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• Commercially aware with a proactive problem-solving mindset
