The Building Design Practice delivers innovative engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors throughout the UK, including Commercial, Healthcare, Residential, Education, Rail, Heritage, and Blue Light projects. This role offers the opportunity to work within a national team of Building Design professionals, contributing to complex and high-profile projects. The position provides exposure to cutting-edge digital technologies, project management, sustainable design, & collaboration with global teams. It is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Building Services Engineer to further develop their technical expertise while supporting AtkinsRéalis’ commitment to innovation, digital engineering, & decarbonisation.
Responsibilities
Your role Design and specify electrical building services systems including power, lighting, earthing, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, and lightning protection. Produce detailed engineering calculations, technical specifications (NBS), reports, & project documentation. Collaborate with BIM teams, Global Technology Centre (GTC), & multidisciplinary stakeholders to deliver high-quality designs. Attend client & contractor meetings, undertake site surveys and inspections, & monitor installation works. Manage assigned project deliverables, budgets, timelines, risks, & scope changes. Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, & governance standards. Support the development & mentoring of junior engineers. Contribute to digital engineering, sustainability, innovation, & AI-driven design initiatives.
About you
Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with Chartered Engineer status (or working towards CEng via CIBSE/IET). Proven experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy or contractor design environment. Proficient in industry software including Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, Microsoft Office, & ideally Revit and HV design tools. Strong understanding of UK technical standards, BIM, digital engineering, & modern design practices. Knowledge of decarbonisation, energy efficiency, building physics, carbon data analysis, commissioning, & performance evaluation. Experience or interest in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Photovoltaic (PV) design, & renewable energy solutions. Strong communication, report writing, presentation, & client-facing skills. Self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads independently, work within budgets & deadlines, & drive innovation in Revit, Digital Engineering, & AI.
