What the role covers
GRAHAM is appointing a permanent Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major civil-engineering project in Great Yarmouth. Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, the post carries responsibility for the project’s commercial function, including cost control and recovery of value. The surveyor will establish budgets and cost codes, examine main-contract and subcontract terms, and procure subcontract packages.
Work includes reporting expenditure and forecasts, administering contractual correspondence and preparing payment applications. The role also involves managing variations and compensation events, preparing delay narratives and loss-and-expense material, and resolving subcontract issues. Regular contact with the employer’s team and attendance at commercial meetings are required.
Applicants need a degree or similar qualification and previous senior commercial or quantity-surveying experience. The employer seeks experience across heavy civil-engineering sectors, such as highways, rail or marine work. NEC contract experience is required, with Option C preferred; experience preparing delay analysis and related claims is also preferred.
MRICS or MCICES status is desirable rather than essential. The advert lists a car allowance, pension, subsidised private medical cover and life assurance. Candidates must satisfy the employer’s UK work-eligibility requirements.
