Job Description:

IP Network Engineer — live broadcast & events, up to £70,000, Shepherd’s Bush

Up to £70,000 | Shepherd’s Bush, West London | 5 days onsite

Our client is a fast-moving broadcast technology business that puts live television on screen for some of the biggest events in sport and beyond. A small, highly capable team of five built the network at pace — and now there’s 18 months of exciting projects lined up. They need a Network Engineer to join them, lead on design and deployment, and upskill the team around them.

This is not a support role. If your background is predominantly reactive and ticket-driven, this isn’t the right fit. They want someone who plans, designs, deploys, and then teaches — a confident engineer who can muck in across wider infrastructure and thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes live environment.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Plan, design, and deploy network infrastructure across a live broadcast and events environment
  • Take ownership of Layer 3 network architecture and multicast routing
  • Upskill and develop the wider team — you’re a technical leader, not just a contributor
  • Get involved in wider infrastructure beyond pure networking — this team needs people who’ll pitch in
  • Support live events on an on-call basis — the network underpins live TV transmission
  • Contribute to a packed project pipeline across the next 18 months
  • Work with Cisco Nexus 9K and Catalyst 9K switching platforms, WatchGuard firewalls, and Netgear

TECH STACK

  • Cisco Nexus 9K (9508 chassis — ST 2110 fabric)
  • Layer 3 networking & multicast (core requirement)
  • WatchGuard Firewalls
  • SMPTE ST 2110 (training provided — strong IP engineers welcomed)

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong Layer 3 networking and multicast experience — this is the technical core of the role
  • Design and deployment background — you build things, you don’t just maintain them
  • Confident with the presence to lead and teach — you’ll be upskilling colleagues, not just delivering yourself
  • Comfortable across wider infrastructure, not just routing and switching
  • ST 2110 experience is a bonus not a requirement — a brilliant IP engineer will be trained on broadcast specifics
  • Able to work at pace in a live, high-pressure environment — broadcast waits for no one
  • Happy to be onsite 5 days a week — the environment demands it and the team is all in together
  • Available for on-call during live events

THE PACKAGE

  • Up to £70,000 base salary — for someone genuinely brilliant
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Ad hoc overtime
  • Electric car scheme
  • Rewards platform and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Family-friendly benefits
  • Pension (currently being aligned)
  • 5 days per week onsite — Shepherd’s Bush, West London

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT

  • Every day is a school day — constant exposure to new technology, new challenges, and new problems to solve
  • Live TV at massive scale — sport, entertainment, major national events — you’ll feel the pride when it goes out
  • A small, tight-knit team where your contribution is genuinely visible and valued
  • Huge project pipeline — 18 months of interesting, varied work already lined up
  • Broadcast networking is a rare and marketable speciality — ST 2110 on your CV opens doors
  • Cisco Nexus 9K in a broadcast fabric is genuinely unusual — technically fascinating work

Strong Layer 3 and multicast engineer ready to lead, build, and teach in a live broadcast environment? Let’s talk.
