Commercial Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through final account for a specialist civil engineering contractor in Nottinghamshire. You will work closely with project teams, clients and subcontractors to drive commercial performance and manage risks. You will own CVRs, forecasting, cost control, variations, and cash flow, guiding commercial decisions and safeguarding project outcomes. You’ll also mentor junior team members and help maximise project performance with operations. This is a clear path to a Commercial Manager position within a growing team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial performance of live projects
• Produce CVRs, forecasting, cost control and reporting
• Handle variations, compensation events and change management
• Subcontract procurement and account management
• Maintain contractual and commercial correspondence
• Oversee cash flow and final accounts
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
• Support and develop junior members of the commercial team
• Collaborate with operations to maximise project performance

Key requirements

• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Experience managing projects from start to finish
• Good understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
• Solid CVR, forecasting and cost-control experience
• Experience managing subcontractors and changes
• Confidence to own commercial decisions
• Leadership experience or desire to progress to Commercial Manager
