Senior Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role, you oversee the cost, contract, and commercial facets of high-value projects from inception to completion. You’ll work within the Major Contracts team, ensuring profitability and client satisfaction across commercial, leisure, and hospitality schemes. You’ll lead cost estimation, procurement, and final accounts, collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders. This is a hands-on position with visibility across the project lifecycle and a pathway to progression in a forward-thinking firm.

Responsibilities

• Take accurate briefing notes from clients to support pricing and site checks
• Produce Bills of Quantities/Scopes of Works from drawings
• Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement, including cost analysis and contracts
• Maintain and update the procurement tracker and CVR reporting
• Conduct regular site visits and project meetings
• Negotiate with internal and external stakeholders and manage variations
• Prepare valuations and monitor profitability, value engineering, and risk
• Lead project costing from concept to final account, including procurement and commercial reporting
• Review invoices for accuracy and compliance and submit final accounts
• Support cross-functional collaboration across the project lifecycle
• Maintain project data on Concorde Project Portal and Egnyte
• Ensure documentation aligns with CBGW protocols
• Oversee full project tenders where applicable
• Close out projects with timely final accounts
• Ensure accuracy in financial reporting and budgeting for projects

Key requirements

• Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
• 10+ years’ QS experience in construction (preferred)
• Strong numeracy and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other IT systems
• Strong commercial awareness and decisive decision-making
• Effective negotiation and communication skills with stakeholders
• Strong time management and attention to detail
• Collaborative and values-aligned with company culture
• Full UK driving licence
