Principal Engineer

Overview

As Principal Software Engineer at Kaluza, you will be the technical authority for a major product area, guiding large-scale, cross-functional initiatives. You’ll shape the architecture and contribute to a scalable platform while mentoring engineers and partnering with leadership. Expect to influence multiple teams, engage with executives, and occasionally dive into design or PoCs. You’ll work in a hybrid setup across UK offices, helping accelerate the energy transition through robust, cloud-native solutions.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority for a major product area and align work with target architecture standards
• Lead innovation on complex, large-scale solutions to build a scalable platform
• Influence multiple teams and collaborate with architecture leadership and principal staff engineers
• Provide hands-off technical leadership with occasional code-level design or PoC activity when needed
• Mentor engineers to deliver autonomous, loosely coupled distributed systems based on solid architectural principles
• Lead due diligence and make high-stakes technical decisions
• Deliver outcomes across cross-functional features and engage with technical and executive stakeholders
• Work independently and collaboratively with a growth mindset and open communication
