Job Description:

Registered General Nurse

Take your nursing career further

We’re a family owned and run care provider, and we’re passionate about people — it’s not just a motto, it’s how we operate. We’re hiring a Registered Nurse (RGN) to lead clinical care for our residents and be part of a team that genuinely invests in your professional development. If you’re a compassionate, committed nurse looking for real career progression, not just a shift pattern, we’d love to hear from you.

One of our own Registered Nurses, Monisha, recently completed her NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management with our support — you can read her story here:

About the role

What you’ll actually be doing

  • Delivering high-quality nursing care, meeting residents’ physical and emotional needs

  • Developing and maintaining personalised electronic care plans with residents, families and the wider care team

  • Supporting the Home Manager to implement policies and procedures consistently

  • Making sure residents have access to medical, social and other care support as needed

  • Contributing to clinical governance within the home

  • Working in line with CQC guidelines, the NMC Code and relevant legislation at all times

Why Westgate is different

  • Family owned and operated — decisions here are made by people who know the homes, not a distant corporate structure

  • A genuine track record of promoting from within — many of our staff, including Home Managers, started in roles just like this one and grew with us

  • Excellent regulatory standards — our homes are currently rated Good or Outstanding, so you’re joining a team that gets the fundamentals right

  • We invest in keeping good people — many of our staff have been with us for years, not just recruited and left to it

Our values

Compassionate. Committed. Collaborative. Credible.

These aren’t words on a wall — they’re what we expect from each other and what our residents and families experience every day.

Clinical development, taken seriously

  • Westgate RN Professional Development Programme — a 12-month, RN-led programme built specifically to grow your clinical career

  • NMC PIN renewal fees reimbursed

  • Revalidation portfolio support, so you’re never doing it alone

  • Ongoing support to retain and build your clinical skills

  • Registered Nurse representation at every level of the organisation, so clinical voices genuinely shape decisions

Pay and hours

  • £18 – £23 per hour, plus enhanced pay on bank holidays

  • 39 hours per week, shifts across Monday–Sunday

  • Day shifts 8am–8pm

  • Paid 1 hour break

Why people stay at Westgate

  • Get paid before payday with Stream, plus Blue Light Card, cashback and discount schemes

  • Refer a friend, earn up to £500

  • Cycle to Work scheme, wellbeing support via The Care Workers Charity, and regular team social events

  • Recognition that isn’t just words — Employee of the Month and Long Service awards

  • Comprehensive induction with free training and ongoing professional development

Before you apply

You’ll need current NMC registration (RGN/RN) with a valid PIN. This role involves working with vulnerable adults, so it’s subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. We’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of everyone we support.

We review applications as they come in and may close this vacancy early if we find the right person — so don’t wait to apply.

Westgate Healthcare is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, sex, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, age, pregnancy or maternity, gender reassignment, or marriage and civil partnership.
