Senior Quantity Surveyor – Rail Infrastructure

Overview

Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on rail infrastructure projects across London and the South East for a main contractor. You will drive profitability, procurement, and cash flow while managing contractual risk and stakeholder communication. The role combines financial control with hands-on subcontracts and dispute resolution, ensuring value delivery on major projects for clients like TFL and Network Rail. You’ll mentor team members and shape commercial strategy to support project success and client expectations.

Responsibilities

• Set profitability targets with the team and monitor progress
• Develop procurement strategy and manage timely procurement of subcontracts
• Negotiate and administer subcontracts to align with strategy
• Secure favorable payments from client to maximise cash flow and ensure contracts are complied with
• Ensure insurances, bonds, guarantees are in place and released on time
• Produce CVCs, cashflow, and end-day forecasts aligned with targets
• Monitor progress against programme including subcontractors
• Prepare and agree internal/external valuations and final accounts
• Participate in risk reviews and problem solving
• Provide guidance on contractual obligations and protect commercial interests
• Participate in dispute resolution with commercial impact
• Train, mentor, and develop other staff
• Deliver all duties efficiently with high standards
