Test Engineer

Test Engineer — Manchester, 1 day a week — £325 per day — Inside IR35

A UK central government programme is hiring a test engineer at working level.

This is a hands-on role. Functional testing, automated suites you build and maintain, and performance testing you design and run — all three, rather than one of them.

The package

• Inside IR35
• One day a week on site in Manchester, the rest remote
• Clearance requirement and duration are being confirmed and will be shared before application

What you will do

• Functional testing across the team’s services, including test design and defect management
• Build and maintain automated test suites
• Design and run performance tests, and act on what they tell you
• Test across both the front end and the back end of an Azure-based stack
• Work alongside the delivery team in Manchester one day a week

What you need

• Test automation — building and maintaining frameworks, not only executing someone else’s
• Performance testing — designing and running load, stress or soak tests, with the tooling
• Functional testing as the base discipline
• Familiarity with both front end and back end testing, including APIs
• Experience of an Azure stack

Useful but not required: UK central government delivery, ISTQB or equivalent, experience of debt, finance or case-management services.
