Our client is seeking an experienced and committed Registered Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of a children’s residential home.
This is an opportunity for an established Registered Manager, or an experienced Deputy Manager ready to take the next step, to lead a team and make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people.
The Role:
As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the quality of care, safeguarding, staff development and regulatory compliance within the home.
We are looking for a confident and compassionate leader who can turn high standards into consistent everyday practice — ensuring staff understand their responsibilities, care plans reflect each young person’s individual needs, and the home provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment.
- Providing visible, compassionate and accountable leadership across the home.
- Recruiting, developing and retaining a skilled and committed residential care team.
- Creating a nurturing and therapeutic environment with clear, consistent boundaries and routines.
- Leading safeguarding practice and ensuring concerns are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
- Overseeing individual care plans and risk assessments, ensuring they effectively support each young person.
- Providing regular supervision, coaching and support to staff.
- Building positive working relationships with families, social workers, placing authorities and other professionals.
- Maintaining accurate records and monitoring the quality of care provided.
- Identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous development across the home.
- Ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and associated Quality Standards.
- Preparing for and leading the home through Ofsted inspections.
- Ensuring learning from inspections, incidents and feedback is embedded into day-to-day practice.
About You
You will ideally have previous management or deputy management experience within an Ofsted-regulated children’s residential setting, together with the confidence and ability to lead a team and take ownership of care quality.
You will ideally have:
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or an accepted equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) or similar complex needs.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and sound professional judgement around risk management.
- Experience recruiting, developing, motivating and retaining staff.
- The ability to build positive relationships with professionals, families and external agencies.
- A genuine commitment to achieving and maintaining Good or Outstanding standards.
- A leadership approach based on compassion, resilience, integrity and accountability.
