Mobile Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will provide autonomous mobile maintenance across a portfolio of commercial sites, servicing and repairing mechanical and HVAC systems. You will support water hygiene compliance and safety regimes, while delivering clear technical reporting and quotes. You work closely with the helpdesk to meet SLAs and keep sites compliant and operational. The position offers a company van, structured schedule, and opportunities to upskill and earn overtime. This role suits a proactive engineer who wants field impact and client-facing collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Mobile Mechanical & HVAC maintenance: servicing, commissioning, and fault-finding on commercial mechanical and HVAC equipment per standards; respond to reactive maintenance and perform first-line repairs on pipework, pumps, valves, and sanitary installations
• Water hygiene & compliance (ACoP L8): conduct monthly hygiene monitoring, temperature checks, and regulator tests; maintain audit-ready logbooks
• Quoting, scoping & technical reporting: inspect plant condition, estimate parts/labor, draft remedial quotes; complete electronic work logs and diagnostic notes
• Vehicle, safety & safe systems of work: manage van stock, perform RAMS-compliant isolations, and adhere to Permit to Work frameworks

Key requirements

• Full, clean UK driving licence
• ACoP L8 / Legionella awareness certification
• Proven mobile engineer/field service experience
• Standalone diagnostic skills for pumps, HVAC, and water distribution
• Strong communication skills for client-facing interactions
• Commitment to health, safety and RAMS compliance
