Location: London
Job Description:

Comp: Very strong

X4 are partnered with a well-backed, globally expanding commodities trading firm to appoint an experienced Credit Risk Manager into a high-impact position at the centre of their international trading operation.

Key focuses are building out credit coverage for a rapidly growing UK trading and origination book, helping bring a newly expanding international team into the global framework, and modernising how the function works through data, automation and better tooling.

You’ll be the senior credit voice in London; with genuine sign-off authority, a small team to build and develop, and a strong say in how the function evolves.

Responsibilities for the Credit Risk Manager

  • Assess and approve credit exposure across a diverse counterparty base – ratings, limits, tenors and mitigants – escalating larger or more complex decisions where needed
  • Manage, coach and grow a team of Credit Analysts, setting the standard for the quality and pace of credit work in London
  • Act as a trusted partner to the commercial teams, finding workable structures that balance deal flow with sensible risk appetite
  • Shape credit terms and security packages on physical and derivative trades, working hand in hand with Legal
  • Own portfolio monitoring and management reporting, while driving process, systems and analytics improvements across a globally connected team

Requirements for the Credit Risk Manager

  • Significant credit risk experience gained within a commodity trading house, energy trader, or utility
  • Strong functional knowledge across a combination of oil, gas, power, LNG and/or metals
  • A track record of leading analysts, with a hands‑on style that suits a lean, high‑ownership team
  • Appetite for change – experience improving processes, introducing new tools or using data/AI to make credit more efficient
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement – comfortable with both technical and non-technical audiences, ideally across regions and time zones

Having supported this organisation’s growth over the last 3+ years, we can confidently say this is one of the most exciting credit opportunities we’ve brought to market. The package is very competitive, with flexibility to secure the right person for a pivotal role.

It’s based in London on a hybrid basis (3 days per week in the office), with interviews being lined up from w/c 12th October.
