Regional Engineering Lead – Multi-Site (All-Island)
Location: Belfast-based, with regular travel to sites across the island of Ireland
Reports to: Divisional Engineering Manager
Department: Operations
The role
A senior hands-on engineering role leading maintenance, reliability and capital projects across four operational sites – Belfast, Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
You’ll own the engineering standard across the network: keeping plant and facilities running reliably, delivering capital projects from business cases through to handover, and driving continuous improvement in uptime, efficiency and cost. There’s a clear step-up path too – you’ll deputise for the Divisional Engineering Manager when needed.
What you’ll be doing
Maintenance & reliability
* Set clear, practical engineering standards and procedures across all sites
* Implement and run an effective planned preventive maintenance (PPM) system
* Work with the Divisional Engineering Manager, Regional Operations Manager and site teams to make sure equipment and facilities are tested, operated, maintained and repaired properly
Capital projects & ESG
* Build project proposals and business cases through the company approval process
* Plan and deliver large capital projects from design through to completion
* Assess feasibility – cost, resource, technology and priority
* Manage contractors and suppliers, including tendering, negotiation and contracts
* Delivery on time and on budget, keeping stakeholders updated
* Run post-project reviews to confirm performance and business objectives are met
* Make sure all engineering activity lines up with safety, environmental and ESG commitments
People & stakeholders
* Develop and support maintenance and operational staff across the sites
* Keep site teams informed on maintenance activity, so operations and service quality aren’t disrupted
* Build strong relationships with site management and third-party suppliers
Performance & data
* Set annual KPIs covering efficiency, downtime, repair costs and project delivery
* Put recovery plans in place where targets slip
* Use data and root cause analysis to fix problems properly and track the results
Systems
* Keep documentation and reporting tight, whether manual or CMMS-based
* Digitise and automate KPIs and maintenance records wherever possible
* Implement the systems needed to support operational requirements
What you’ll bring
Essential
* 5+ years as a Senior Engineer or Engineering Manager in an industrial or manufacturing environment
* Degree in engineering (or equivalent, with significant hands-on industry experience)
* Strong technical grounding across mechanical, electrical and control systems
* A track record of leading change and driving continuous improvement
* Capital project delivery experience, including contractor management
* Commercial awareness and experience working alongside operations and commercial teams
* Strong IT skills, including data analysis and reporting
* Full driving licence, own vehicle and flexibility to travel between sites
What makes a good fit
* Strong health and safety mindset
* Logical problem solver with good financial acumen
* Confident decision maker who works well on their own initiative
* Clear communicator with peers, senior management, site teams and third parties
* Flexible and comfortable splitting time across multiple sites
Key contacts
Internal: Divisional Engineering Manager, Regional Operations Manager, Site Operations Management, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, IT and HR
External: Contractors, suppliers, harbour authorities, government and industry bodies
Why it’s worth a look
* Genuine multi-site remit with real ownership of the engineering agenda
* Meaningful capital spend and project delivery, not just keeping the lights on
* A clear route up – you’ll act up for the Divisional Engineering Manager
* All-island role with a Belfast base
