Data is at the heart of everything we do. From understanding sales performance to identifying trends in claims data, our Data Science & Analytics team helps colleagues across Howden turn complex information into meaningful insights that drive better business decisions.

You’ll join Howden on a permanent role and complete an 18-month development programme designed to develop your technical knowledge, professional skills and confidence to kick start your career.

What you’ll be doing?

You will begin with a structured induction before joining our Data Science & Analytics team, where you will work alongside experienced colleagues and gradually take on more responsibility.

During the programme, you’ll:

  • Gain exposure to both data analytics and data science, helping you understand how analysis, reporting and data models can be used to solve different business problems.
  • Support a range of live data projects for different areas of the Retail business.
  • Analyse datasets to understand what the information is telling us, looking for patterns, trends, gaps or unusual results that may need further investigation.
  • Clean, organise and check data before it is analysed, spotting errors or inconsistencies and helping make sure the information is accurate and reliable.
  • Learn how to turn your findings into clear reports for key business stakeholders.
  • Build your technical skills by learning to use tools such as Power BI, SQL and Python.

Who are we looking for?

No insurance experience is needed; we’ll teach you everything you need to know!

You’ll be:

  • Interested in data, technology, IT or coding and eager to learn more.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and using logical thinking to understand problems.
  • A strong problem solver who enjoys spotting patterns and finding practical solutions.
  • Attentive to detail, particularly when checking information and identifying errors.
  • Able to communicate your ideas clearly and confidently.
  • Someone who is keen to collaborate with different people across the business.
  • Organised and able to manage several tasks or projects at the same time.

To be eligible for our apprenticeship, you must:
