House of Bruar is an award-winning luxury retailer in Scotland, renowned for offering its customers a quintessential Scottish experience. Still family owned, we have a passion for premium natural fibres and rich, evocative colours, and our photography is central to how our customers discover our collections.
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Fashion Stylist & Art Director to join the Creative Team at our main site in Blair Atholl. Reporting directly to the Creative Director, you will lead the styling and art direction of our seasonal fashion photography, from the first mood board through to the final shot. If you have a strong eye for clothing and colour, and the organisation to run a busy shoot on a Highland hillside as confidently as in the studio, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Our Creative Director has a background in Saville Row Tailoring and we have found that this is an advantage to understand how textiles sit on the body to create great shots. Commercial awareness is also key to the role, artistic vision with a commercial filter.
This role is a permanent position and offers full time hours. This is an in person role so the ability to commute or relocate to Blair Atholl is essential. We do not offer visa sponsorship so only those with the right to work in the UK should apply.
The role:
- Styling menswear and womenswear for seasonal campaigns, catalogues, e-commerce and marketing photography.
- Art directing studio and location shoots, directing photographers, models and hair and make-up teams.
- Developing Spring/Summer, Autumn/Winter and Christmas concepts and mood boards with the Creative Director.
- Planning each shoot, including schedules, running orders, shot lists, model casting and location scouting across Scotland and further afield.
- Preparing clothing, accessories and props, and styling on set with close attention to fit, proportion, colour and layering.
- Running shoots day to day and making sure daily photography targets are met.
- Adapting quickly to changing weather, locations and product availability.
- Working with the Product Development team to identify the key products and stories for each campaign.
- Supporting the Creative Director with collection development, including fabric, colour and trim selection.
- Keeping our imagery consistent and recognisably House of Bruar, while making it feel fresh each season.
Over time, you will take ownership of our seasonal fashion photography. This will let the Creative Director focus on the wider creative direction of the business.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant professional experience in fashion styling and art direction. You may currently be a Senior Stylist, Art Director, Creative Producer or Fashion Editor, and your breadth of experience matters more to us than your job title.
- A portfolio showing both studio and location fashion photography.
- A sophisticated understanding of clothing, fabrics, colour and outfit building.
- Experience planning and running complex shoots to demanding schedules.
- The confidence to make decisions and give clear direction, while staying calm and collaborative under pressure.
- An understanding that our photography must sell product as well as inspire.
- A genuine love of the Scottish countryside and the world of The House of Bruar.
- The flexibility to travel and work on location, and a full driving licence.
