Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and analysis of mechanical components, structures and assemblies from concept through to testing and productionProvide senior engineering expertise and sound technical judgement when solving complex engineering problemsPlan and deliver technical work packages, collaborating with project management and multidisciplinary engineering teamsSupport the development of complex metallic and composite structures for maritime and defence applicationsWork with safety engineering and other functions to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, company and project-specific requirementsDevelop engineering capability by mentoring colleagues and sharing specialist knowledge across technical communitiesApply effective governance and act as a peer or independent reviewer for suitable engineering programmesIdentify hazards and promote safe working practices across projects and technical activities
Job Requirements:
Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering, including design processes and manufacturing principlesExperience designing structures to recognised maritime, defence or civil engineering standardsProficiency in CAD software, particularly Siemens NX or SolidWorksExperience designing both metallic and composite structuresCompetence in performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on complex structures and systemsThorough understanding of safety regulations and applicable regulatory requirementsBEng in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experienceEligibility to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance
Working Arrangements:
Permanent, full-time position working 37 hours per weekBased at the Haslar Marine Technology Park in GosportMinimum average site attendance of three days per weekOpportunity to work with advanced marine technology, including specialist facilities for testing and refining designs
