Overview
In this role you will advance water quality modelling across coastal and estuarine environments for UK and international projects. You join a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated solutions that improve environmental performance and community outcomes. You will build and apply multidimensional models to understand pollutant pathways and assess impacts on receptors, shaping engineering and nature-based responses. This is a growth-focused opportunity with cross-border collaboration and ongoing technical development.
Responsibilities
- scope, data collection, development, execution, and presentation of multidimensional environmental water quality models
- model behaviour of reservoirs, lakes, transitional and coastal waters
- identify pollution sources, pathways, and impacts on sensitive receptors
- develop engineered and nature-based solutions to meet environmental goals
- collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- support projects across the UK and overseas
- communicate modelling results to clients and professionals
Key requirements
- extensive experience in 2D/3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling
- chartered membership or working towards chartership in a relevant institution
- proficiency with MIKE, Delft3D, Telemac
- experience modelling hydrodynamics, multiphase flows, particle tracking, advection-dispersion, water quality and chemical processes
- basic understanding of physicochemical water quality and oceanography; awareness of regulatory standards for freshwater/marine waters
- strong written and verbal communication; ability to liaise with stakeholders and clients
- ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- strong communication and stakeholder liaison
- problem-solving and analytical thinking
- adaptability and collaborative mindset
- 2D/3D hydrodynamic and water quality modelling
- numerical modelling equations and discretisation
