Associate Director – Water Design

Overview

In this Associate Director role, you lead water non-infrastructure design programs within a growing UK engineering consultancy. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, maintain high-level client engagement, and act as a technical authority across portfolios, shaping major water sector delivery. The position combines technical oversight with business development in a leadership capacity designed to influence outcomes for a major water utility framework. You will work with cross-functional teams and senior engineers to deliver high-impact projects while advancing the firm’s water design capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership across water non-infrastructure design projects
• Oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering civil, mechanical and electrical design solutions
• Act as a senior technical authority across project portfolios
• Maintain strong client relationships and represent the organisation at technical and programme reviews
• Support business development, proposals and framework delivery
• Guide and mentor senior engineers and design leads

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered Engineer with a recognised professional institution
• Significant experience within the UK water sector
• Proven leadership experience across multidisciplinary design teams
• Strong understanding of UK water industry standards and regulatory frameworks
• Excellent communication, leadership and commercial awareness
