Wallet Controls & Financial-Crime Lead

LekeeWallet is live and growing. As volume rises, so does the risk. We are looking for an experienced banking professional to bring proper bank-grade discipline to how the wallet is run — separation of duties, the right level of internal scrutiny on sensitive actions, scam prevention, and the day-to-day operating model that a regulated payments business needs.

This is a hands-on compliance and security role. You will own the controls themselves, not write a policy and walk away.

What you will do

• Run a controls assessment on the wallet and put the right level of approval and oversight in place across the actions that move money or change account state
• Design and enforce separation of duties across product, operations and finance — nobody initiates, approves and settles their own transactions
• Lead the internal scam-prevention programme: typologies, monitoring approach, escalation path
• Partner with the broader team on the policies that protect the business and our customers
• Own the relationship with the external auditors and the regulator on conduct, AML and financial-crime obligations
• Run regular tabletop exercises on insider-threat and scam scenarios; close the gaps the exercises surface

Reports to: Vice Chairman and Chairman.

Who we are looking for

• 8+ years in retail or commercial banking, payments, or a regulated fintech, with at least one tour in financial crime, operational risk or internal audit
• Practical knowledge of bank-grade controls: separation of duties, maker-checker / four-eyes, the operating model behind them
• Hands-on experience standing up internal scam-prevention or insider-threat programmes
• Regulator-facing fluency on AML / CFT, KYC, and the conduct obligations of a payments business
• Calm under audit; comfortable saying no to a senior person who wants the control bypassed
• Remote, with London or Lagos available for the right candidate; we are global in outlook and run a follow-the-sun rotation across Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America
