We’re working with an established engineering business specialising in the design, development and delivery of bespoke electronic and integrated systems for demanding industrial and commercial environments.
As the business continues to grow, they’re looking to appoint a Project Engineer to support the technical development and delivery of customer projects, working closely with internal engineering, sales and production teams, as well as external clients.
This is a varied, hands‑on engineering role offering involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design and technical proposals through to manufacturing support, testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the sales team to develop technical solutions that meet customer requirements and project specifications.
- Review technical tenders and proposals, ensuring designs are accurate, practical and compliant with relevant requirements.
- Prepare technical documentation to support bids, proposals and project delivery.
- Develop system designs and produce engineering drawings for customer review and approval.
- Create clear technical documentation and manufacturing information to support production.
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing and testing teams, helping resolve technical issues and maintain quality standards.
- Configure and integrate IP-based CCTV equipment, including cameras, servers, storage systems, network hardware and fibre‑optic infrastructure.
- Plan, coordinate and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to verify system performance against project requirements.
- Provide technical assistance to customers and project teams during installation and commissioning.
- Support troubleshooting and technical queries throughout the operational life of installed systems.
About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong electrical or electronic engineering background who enjoys combining technical design work with practical engineering and project delivery.
You’ll ideally have:
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience with CCTV, IP-based systems, networking or related integrated technologies.
- The ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into effective engineering solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good planning, organisation and problem‑solving abilities.
- A methodical approach, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and follow established engineering processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, or equivalent practical engineering experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and, ideally, Visio.
- Experience supporting technical projects from design through to testing and customer handover would be advantageous.
- Ability to commute reliably to the Nottingham area.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a growing engineering business where you can contribute to technically varied projects, work alongside experienced colleagues and play an important role in delivering reliable, high-quality systems to customers.
If you have a background in electrical or electronic systems engineering and are looking for a role offering variety, technical involvement and end‑to‑end project exposure, we’d be keen to hear from you.
