Head of AI Solutions, COO Technology – MD (C16)

Overview

In this executive role, you will architect and own Citi COO Technology’s multi-year AI strategy and delivery capability across a $200M+ portfolio. You will build a world-class AI engineering function and production-grade AI solutions across complex, regulated banking operations. You lead the platform, governance, and partnerships with cloud providers to enable scalable, auditable AI in mission-critical domains. This is a greenfield, high-impact builder role with executive visibility and real budget authority.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the multi-year AI strategy and rollout roadmap with measurable outcomes
• Design end-to-end architectures for Generative AI and agentic workflows across operational domains
• Build and govern a shared AI platform with reusable models, tooling, guardrails, and accelerators
• Establish engineering standards, guardrails, and development patterns for AI initiatives
• Define total cost of ownership and oversee production AI economics and deployment
• Lead end-to-end delivery of AI solutions in high-complexity, regulated environments
• Drive agentic product lifecycle including runtime design, human-in-the-loop workflows, and production readiness
• Manage cross-functional delivery across engineering, product, data, architecture, cyber, risk & compliance, and operations
• Lead AI governance forums and Architecture Review Boards; ensure regulatory compliance and model risk management

Key requirements

• 15+ years in technology leadership
• Deep hands-on Generative AI & LLM engineering mastery (model selection, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG, vector stores)
• Experience designing multi-agent architectures and orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI)
• Full AI/ML lifecycle ownership and MLOps (training, deployment, monitoring, drift, observability)
• Cloud AI platform experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) with scalable inference and vector stores
• Strong Python, with PyTorch or TensorFlow; experience with LangChain/LlamaIndex or equivalents
• Enterprise AI architecture for regulated environments (security, explainability, audit logging)
• 10+ years in management; leadership of senior engineers and global teams
• Domain knowledge in financial services operations (KYC/AML, fraud, reconciliations, regulatory reporting)
• MRM awareness and experience moving AI into production under regulatory scrutiny
• Experience with executive stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
• Bachelor degree; Master’s in CS/AI/ML preferred
