Specialist Heavy Plant Operator (Blyth)

Our operational teams use specialist equipment and innovative repair techniques to deliver efficient highway maintenance solutions countywide.

What you’ll be doing:

• Operating specialist pothole repair and highway maintenance plant across Northumberland.
• Carrying out highway maintenance and construction activities, including excavation and repair works.
• Inspecting, maintaining and servicing plant and equipment in line with manufacturer guidance.
• Completing associated paperwork, plant inspections, vehicle checks and work records.
• Working safely in accordance with Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and Chapter 8 requirements.
• Supporting winter maintenance, emergency call-outs and other highway operational activities when required.

What you’ll bring:

• Level 2, City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Roadworks, or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Relevant qualifications and experience operating heavy plant and excavators, ideally including JCB 4CX or equivalent machinery.
• Experience in highway maintenance and construction works, including working in a safety-critical environment.
• Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel throughout Northumberland, with flexibility to participate in standby and emergency response arrangements.
