Overview

In this role you lead SAAS Agency Finance, Procurement, Fraud and Recovery to ensure strong financial stewardship, governance and reporting to the SAAS Executive Team and Board. You will provide expert financial advice to support evidence-based decisions and contribute to corporate strategy as part of the Senior Management Team. You oversee statutory audits, annual reporting and budget processes, focusing on value for money and sustainable financial planning. This is a chance to shape public sector financial management and drive continuous improvement within the agency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the professional Finance function to deliver high-quality advisory and services
• Champion CPD and a culture of integrity, accountability and continuous improvement in controls
• Build trusted relationships with government, auditors and regulators to enable effective financial stewardship
• Provide clear accounting and budgeting analysis to stakeholders and influence strategic decisions
• Present complex financial information clearly to support policy and decision-making
• Oversee Annual Report and Accounts preparation and manage the statutory audit within timeframes
• Work with Programme finance lead to deliver holistic financial stewardship and robust governance
• Support delivery of organisational priorities through sustainable financial planning and control

Key requirements

• CCAB qualified with up-to-date CPD and post-qualified experience in an accountancy environment
• Strong technical financial accounting and governance skills
• Experience implementing and managing sustainable change and improving controls
• Strong planning and prioritisation skills with evidence of leading finance teams
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences
