Tax Manager – Advisory & Planning

Overview

In this Tax Manager role, you will help shape and grow the firm’s tax advisory offering from the South Manchester hub. You will engage with clients early to scope opportunities and guide solutions alongside the senior management team. You’ll lead initiatives to develop the tax proposition, while mentoring a developing team and handling complex client discussions. The position combines hands-on advisory work with team leadership and strategic influence, offering a meaningful impact on the firm’s growth and service quality.

Responsibilities

• Engage with clients early to discuss scope and identify opportunities
• Support management in delivering tax solutions
• Lead and steer development of the tax advisory offering
• Collaborate with existing clients and respond to tax queries
• Mentor and work with junior team members
• Help shape the firm’s tax proposition with autonomy
• Work on corporate tax structuring, personal tax planning, trusts and IHT considerations
• Maintain strong technical awareness across relevant tax areas

Key requirements

• CTA qualified (or newly qualified)
• Around five years’ experience in practice
• Confident in initial client conversations
• Commercially aware and able to own developing a tax service offering
• Strong technical grounding in corporate and personal tax planning
• Knowledge of trusts, FICs and IHT considerations
• Collaborative with colleagues and able to support juniors
