London – Hybrid Working

About the Opportunity

This role sits at the intersection of bid management, business growth, and solution development. While bid writing is a core responsibility, it is not intended to remain a purely document-focused position. As our knowledge assets, content repositories, and AI-enabled tools continue to develop, the emphasis will shift towards higher-value commercial activities such as stakeholder engagement, opportunity development, proposition shaping, and supporting business growth initiatives.

Over time, you’ll become increasingly involved in helping convert opportunities into wins, strengthening internal and external relationships, and contributing to the development of new service offerings and go-to-market materials.

Key Responsibilities

Bid & Proposal Management

  • Lead the production of high-quality tender and proposal responses, aligning content with the agreed win strategy and proposed solution.
  • Manage multiple concurrent opportunities, balancing competing priorities while maintaining quality and meeting submission deadlines.
  • Engage with subject matter experts to gather technical, commercial, and delivery information, using targeted questioning to obtain the insights required.
  • Develop response frameworks, key messaging, and proposal content from the ground up where required.
  • Take ownership of response quality, ensuring accuracy, consistency, compliance, and a cohesive narrative throughout the submission process.
  • Coordinate reviews and feedback cycles, ensuring deadlines are met and contributions are incorporated effectively.

Working with Partners

Many opportunities involve collaboration with delivery partners, associates, or consortium members. This role will play a key part in ensuring joint submissions are coordinated effectively and presented as a single, integrated response.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing strong working relationships with partner organisations and key contacts.
  • Coordinating contributions across multiple stakeholders and ensuring responsibilities are clearly understood.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of joint bids, regardless of whether the organisation is leading the opportunity or acting as a supporting partner.
  • Managing subcontractor and partnership inputs, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to timelines.
  • Overseeing quality assurance for externally contributed content and ensuring all submissions reflect the required standards and positioning.

Future Development of the Role

We expect technology and AI to increasingly automate repetitive drafting and content assembly activities. This role will actively contribute to that evolution by:

  • Helping refine AI-assisted proposal processes and content-generation approaches.
  • Contributing to the ongoing improvement of knowledge libraries, reusable content, templates, and proposition assets.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline bid production and improve response quality through smarter use of technology.
  • Spending more time supporting opportunity shaping, stakeholder engagement, pipeline progression, and proposition development as automation capabilities mature.

As a result, the position is expected to develop into a broader commercial and business development role, extending well beyond traditional bid writing responsibilities.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience producing successful bids, proposals, or tender responses within the public sector, professional services, technology, defence, financial services, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong ability to extract information from technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate it into clear, persuasive written content.
  • Experience structuring and developing proposal responses with limited supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written communication, proofreading, and document-quality management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around compliance, governance, formatting, and consistency.
  • Ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and external partners.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in understanding the wider opportunity, client drivers, and competitive positioning.
  • Enthusiasm for leveraging and improving AI-enabled tools, workflows, and knowledge management practices.
  • Experience working within consulting, professional services, or technology-led organisations.
  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement frameworks and associated tender portals.
  • Knowledge of collaborative bidding, strategic partnerships, or consortium-based delivery models.
  • APMP certification, Shipley training, or another recognised bid and proposal qualification.
