NHFT is recruiting General Practitioners (up to 6 sessions a week) to work at HMP North Sea Camp, near Boston, Lincolnshire. This is a Cat D open prison assisting in the rehabilitation of offenders who enjoy significant work opportunities as well as visit Boston and their home area. If you are interested in improving the lives of the most socially deprived population with complex health morbidities, then this job is for you. You will be providing physical healthcare equivalent to that in the community with fellow doctors and other healthcare professionals through a polyclinic model with expertise in Physical Health, Mental Health, Substance Misuse, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Sexual Health etc. As such you will have quick access to all these specialists for your patients as compared to the lengthy waiting times in community practices.
You will be a senior and experienced clinician who can work autonomously to a level of defined competencies, as agreed within local clinical governance frameworks.
You will join an outstanding-rated Trust delivering trauma-informed healthcare within prisons, supported by strong medical leadership, protected CPD time and there may be an opportunity for some hybrid working. You may be asked to provide cross cover for GP colleagues at other prison sites within the Lincolnshire area.
A typical working week is likely to include clinics/patient reviews, team meetings, liaison with other professionals, clinical administration, and supervision of clinical colleagues.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
