About The Client
Our client is a fast-growing Insurtech on a mission to reshape the high-net-worth insurance industry. Combining smart technology with deep insurance expertise, the business is challenging traditional approaches and entering an exciting phase of international growth.
With its headquarters in Cardiff, offices in London and Amsterdam, a Dubai office planned and work underway in the US, they’re looking for a commercially sharp Head of Finance to help build the financial foundations for its next stage.
The opportunity
This is a senior, hands-on role offering full ownership of the finance function and the opportunity to build a team as the business grows.
Working closely with the senior leadership team and reporting into the board, you’ll combine strategic input with day-to-day delivery. From financial modelling and forecasting to payroll and reporting, you’ll establish the systems, processes and insight needed to support growth and informed decisions.
It will suit someone who enjoys the pace of a start-up or scale-up, is comfortable contributing to a small team and wants to shape how a business operates.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of the finance function, including day-to-day operations and financial controls.
- Lead financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning.
- Produce accurate, timely management information and board reporting, translating the numbers into clear commercial insight.
- Oversee payroll and establish reliable financial processes.
- Partner with senior leadership to assess growth opportunities and support strategic decisions.
- Develop finance systems and reporting that can support an expanding international business.
- Build, lead and develop the finance team as the business scales.
About you
- An experienced Head of Finance or senior finance leader ready to take full ownership of a growing function.
- Experience within a start-up or scale-up, with an understanding of the pace, ambiguity and practical demands involved.
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting and reporting skills.
- Commercial judgement and the confidence to contribute to board-level discussions.
- A hands-on approach, with the willingness to move between strategic planning and operational detail.
- The ability to establish processes and build a team around the needs of the business.
- Insurance or Insurtech experience would be valuable, with MGA experience particularly desirable.
Package and working arrangements
- Salary of up to £100,000, depending on experience.
- Shares and profit share.
- Based at the Cardiff headquarters, three days per week.
