Health and Safety Manager

Overview

In this role you lead the health and safety agenda for central production sites within Spirits Governance, guiding a small team to maintain and improve the H&S management system. You will implement new programmes, ensure regulatory and Diageo policy compliance, and engage with regulators and audits. The role focuses on continuous improvement of safety processes and training, with budget responsibility and CAPEX input as needed. You’ll work within a fast-paced, manufacturing environment to protect people and sustain safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional leadership for occupational health & safety across central production sites
• Drive and implement health & safety improvement programmes aligned with priorities
• Ensure compliance with legislation, Diageo policies, standards and protocols
• Develop and maintain the H&S management system
• Participate in health & safety managers forum and monitor compliance
• Manage actions from audits, incidents, GRMS, IA, GAR, ISO
• Lead simplification of processes for continuous improvement
• Deliver an effective health & safety training programme
• Liaise with Regulators on site incidents
• Oversee health & safety budget and CAPEX project support
• Audit or verify LTO Level 1 H&S audits and IA actions

Key requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
• Corporate Membership of Institute Occupational Safety & Health
• Experience leading H&S in food & drink manufacturing or process safety environments (chemical/oil & gas)
• Proven track record in health & safety incident management
• UK Driving Licence (full, clean)
• Experience in process environment safety management
