Director of Transport

Overview

As Director of Transport you will lead the UK transport operation and report to the MD. You will shape transport strategy to boost efficiency and cost-effectiveness while ensuring compliance and safety. You will manage a team, monitor budgets and performance metrics, and collaborate with other functions to align transport with business goals. You will build key relationships with suppliers and customers and drive innovation and process improvements across the function. This is a high-impact role based in the East Midlands with UK travel.

Pay / Benefits

• Salary £110,000–£120,000

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement transport strategies to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Oversee day-to-day logistics operations and ensure regulatory compliance
• Lead and develop a team of transport professionals
• Monitor budgets and performance metrics to support data-driven decisions
• Ensure maintenance and safety of the vehicle fleet
• Collaborate with other departments to align transport activities with business objectives
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and customers
• Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement in the transport function

Key requirements

• Proven experience in transport management within the specialist logistics services sector
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements
