Design Engineer

Overview

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Wärtsilä Defence Solutions, you will design and analyze shaftline seal installations for naval and commercial marine projects, supporting from concept to lifecycle. You will collaborate with suppliers and customers to meet technical and project requirements while ensuring quality and compliance. You’ll perform calculations, validation activities, and provide field support during installation and servicing. Responsibilities

• Create GA drawings and detailed designs for shaftline seal installations
• Develop design solutions meeting project requirements
• Ensure designs comply with engineering standards and data control
• Perform and support calculations related to seal performance and system behaviour
• Support specification and configuration of internally manufactured components
• Liaise with suppliers to meet technical requirements
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and servicing
• Deliver high-quality engineering documentation on time
• Maintain product data and records
• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools

Key requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience in mechanical design and engineering analysis
• Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g. Solid Edge or similar)
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail with a structured approach
• Fluency in English (verbal and written)
• Competency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
