Overview

As MEP Commercial Director, you will provide strategic commercial leadership across MEP packages on a flagship HS2 project, guiding procurement, contracts, cost performance and risk. You will lead a high-performing commercial team to maximise value, ensure governance, and support delivery of complex infrastructure milestones. You’ll work closely with project leaders and stakeholders to drive commercial excellence and positive outcomes in a challenging environment. This is a chance to shape commercial strategy on a landmark programme with lasting transport infrastructure impact.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the commercial strategy for MEP delivery
• Lead a high-performing commercial team and foster accountability
• Control costs, budgets and forecasts across MEP packages
• Manage contractual aspects of major MEP contracts and subcontracts
• Lead procurement activities including tender evaluations and award recommendations
• Oversee change control, claims, disputes and final accounts
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks and maximise opportunities
• Produce timely cost reporting and financial performance insights
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, planning and finance teams
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Support delivery objectives and ensure compliance with governance and policies
• Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes

Key requirements

• Senior commercial leadership experience in MEP delivery or major projects
• Proven track record with high-value, technically complex projects
• Experience with NEC contracts and complex subcontract management
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to interpret contracts and protect commercial position
• Experience in commercial reporting and risk management
