Overview

As Head Valuer, you lead the Valuation service within a commercial property consultancy in Hemel Hempstead. You will combine hands-on fee-earning work with technical oversight and client management, delivering commercial property valuations and development appraisals across asset classes. You’ll manage instructions from enquiry to report, nurture key client relationships, and drive growth while mentoring graduates through the RICS APC. The role blends leadership with continuous professional development in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial property valuations and development appraisals across asset classes for professional purposes
• Manage valuation instructions from enquiry through inspections, reporting, and completion
• Maintain and grow established client relationships and contribute to business development
• Oversee day-to-day valuation workloads, ensuring technical accuracy and timely delivery
• Supervise and mentor graduate surveyors and support their RICS APC progression
• Maintain compliance with RICS standards, Valuer Registration, and PI obligations
• Collaborate with Chartered Surveyors and Registered Valuers to support service delivery
• Balance technical management of the Valuation service with fee-earning responsibilities

Key requirements

• RICS qualified Chartered Surveyor with current Registered Valuer status
• substantial commercial property valuation experience across asset types
• strong understanding of valuation methodology, RICS standards, and reporting requirements
• ability to manage multiple instructions independently and meet deadlines
• excellent communication and client relationship management skills
• experience supervising graduates and supporting RICS APC progression
• commercially minded, organized, self-motivated with high professional standards
• full clean driving licence for property inspections
