Business Analyst (Utilities Industry)

Overview

In this role you will bridge business stakeholders and technology teams to gather, analyze, and document requirements while driving digital transformation in utility operations. You will collaborate across product, architecture, and delivery teams to ensure solutions meet business needs. The role focuses on optimizing utilities processes through structured analysis and documentation. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and document requirements, processes, and pain points
• Conduct workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and stakeholder interviews
• Prepare BRDs, FRS, User Stories, Use Cases, and Process Flows
• Analyze existing utility business processes and identify opportunities for improvement and automation
• Work with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, QA, and Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle
• Support Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Reviews, Retrospectives)
• Perform gap and impact analyses and feasibility assessments
• Facilitate User Acceptance Testing and ensure successful deployment
• Monitor project progress and ensure requirements are delivered as agreed
• Support change management, training, and adoption activities

Key requirements

• Strong experience as a Business Analyst in large-scale enterprise projects
• Utilities domain knowledge (Power, Gas, Water, Smart Metering, Energy Distribution, Customer Services, Asset Management, or Grid Operations)
• Expertise in requirements elicitation, stakeholder management, and business process analysis
• Experience creating BRDs, FRS, User Stories, Process Maps, and Wireframes
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• SQL for data analysis and validation
• Jira, Confluence, Azure Cloud
• MS Power Platform
• Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io
• Power BI/Tableau reporting exposure
• Understanding of API integrations and digital platforms
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
