Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead electrical engineering across a portfolio of solar PV, battery storage and private wire projects, from development through handover. You will shape technical decisions to ensure safety, compliance and long-term viability while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The role supports the UK and Ireland energy transition and offers hybrid working with site visits across multiple locations. You will influence engineering standards and contribute to major renewable investments that accelerate decarbonisation.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering support across solar PV, storage, private wire and wind projects
• Support development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover
• Review and assure engineering outputs from consultants, contractors and OEMs
• Support optioneering and feasibility assessments for practical, commercially viable solutions
• Contribute to engineering standards, specifications and employer requirements
• Assist procurement through technical evaluation of tenders
• Identify and manage engineering risks in line with project needs
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and project teams
• Promote continuous improvement, innovation and best practice
• Represent EDF power solutions in technical discussions with external stakeholders

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Experience delivering infrastructure or energy projects across lifecycle stages
• Strong grounding in electrical engineering systems design relevant to renewables (high voltage, protection and control, power electronics, SCADA or BOP)
• Experience in multidisciplinary project teams and understanding interfaces across civil, mechanical, control and commercial disciplines
• Knowledge of UK standards, regulations and grid requirements for renewables
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites
